This week, the Venum Brasil blog talks about a root that can really help your health: ginger. A root that comes from the Island of Java and has been used for centuries as a medicine and a spice. For this reason, we have separated the main medical properties of ginger, as well as a recipe to make a delicious drink (with Dr. Eduardo Rauen).

The main properties in ginger

– The Chinese used ginger to cure nausea and lack of appetite;

– It is a natural anti-inflammatory for muscles and tendons;

– One great property of ginger is the presence of “gingerol”, an extremely effective element in containing flu and colds;

– Ginger can lower blood sugar, preventing high cholesterol and heart disease;

– Ginger powder can lower PMS and menstrual cramps for women.

Homemade Ginger Ale Recipe

Shopping list:

– 200 grams of chopped ginger

– 2 glasses of water

– 3/4 cups of sugar tea

– 500ml sparkling water

– 3 tablespoons of lemon juice

Cook the ginger in a pan with the lid on for approximately 45 minutes, remove from heat and let it cool for 20 minutes. Mix the ginger and water well until a syrup is formed. Remove the ginger with a strainer and pour the liquid back into the pan. Add sugar and a pinch of salt and mix until the sugar dissolves. This final mixture goes to the refrigerator until it cools, and then it is finished and served.

To serve:

– 1/4 ginger syrup

– 1 and a half spoon of lemon juice

– 3/4 sparkling water

– Serve with ice and mint leaves for garnish
