USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) announced, last Monday (3), UFC heavyweight Raphael Pessoa (32) accepted a two-year suspension after violating for the second time the anti doping policy. Raphael is going to be suspended until February 9th, 2023.

The agency said Pessoa tested positive four timesfor diuretic hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ)  which is forbidden by USADA, on February 9, 15 and 16 and March 4. However, since the athlete hasn’t been notified until before the fourth sample had been collected they count as one test. Raphael Pessoa also got punished because he wasn’t found for collecting samples on January 25 and 28.

Hydrochlorothiazide is the substance that caused his first suspension in November last year. Then, Pessoa got a one-year suspension. He has 10 wins and two defeats in professional MMA. Since 2019, he has won Jeff Hughes and has lost to Ciryl Gané and Tanner Boser.
