Historic! Incredible! There are many adjectives to describe the awesome victory of Charles do Bronx over Michael Chandler at UFC 262, that gave the Brazilian the lightweight belt. In front of 16,000 fans in Texas (USA), Do Bronx was able to celebrate the conquest of the title. Chandler fought better in the first round, but Do Bronx managed to turn things over and striked the American and won by TKO. Now, Do Bronx joins Deiveson Figueiredo (flyweight) and Amanda Nunes (bantamweight and featherweight) as Brazilians who are UFC champions.

André Sergipano Muniz became the first athlete who ever submitted Ronaldo Jacaré Souza in MMA. Rogério Bontorin, Edson Barboza and Priscila Pedrita also won while Viviane Araújo lost to Katlyn Chookagian. In the co-main event, Beneil Dariush beat Tony Ferguson by unanimous decision (triple 30×27).

Do Bronx conquers lightweight belt

The first round wasn’t good for Charles Do Bronx. He suffered trapped in the ground and pound. Chandler almost won with this. The Brazilian resisted and came back in the second round with amazing strength. Do Bronx striked hard and won by TKO. That was Do Bronx’ ninth victory in a row.

Bontorin dominates in the bantamweight

Rogério Bontorin and Matt Schnell had an even first round but in the following the Brazilian had a better performance. Good strikes and during three rounds guaranteed Bontorin a victory by unanimous decision.

Chookagian overcomes Vivi by decision

Viviane Araújo started the fight well against Katlyn Chookagian – who is #2 in the flyweight ranking. In round 2, the Brazilian almost submitted with a guillotine. But Araújo got tired and couldn’t keep up her pace. In the end, the judges decided that Chookagian had won.

Barboza KOs Burgos

Edson Barboza and Shane Burgos had a good performance during the first round. Both delivered a striking fight with kicks and punches. In the second round, the American seemed a little better in the standing game. In the end, however, Edson hit a series of punches that knocked out Burgos.

Sergipano submits Ronaldo Jacaré Souza

In the bout of Brazilians, featuring André Sergipano Muniz and Ronaldo Jacaré Souza, fans watched a tough fight. Souza (41) started well and took Muniz down. However, the 31-year-old athlete used Jiu-Jitsu to resist impressively. On Souza’s back, Muniz went for the arm and submitted Souza, becoming the first one to achieve that in MMA. The armlock apparently broke Souza’s arm. With this result, Muniz won for the third time in the promotion.

Pedrita wins another one

In the beginning, Priscila Pedrita saw Gina Mazany perform well and dominate round 1. IN the second round, it seemed things would be the same, but the Brazilian striking game was very intense. Pedrita punished the American and the referee had to stop the fight. The Brazilian won by TKO and that was her second victory in a row.
