Por conta da pandemia, IBJJF anuncia que não realizará os Mundiais de Jiu-Jitsu com e sem quimono em 2020; saiba mais

The Main entity of Jiu-Jitsu, the IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) informed, last Tuesday night (10th), that it will not hold the Worlds with and without kimono in 2020. According to the statement, the great obstacles are the closed borders in the United States due to the coronavirus pandemic. Meaning, athletes who do not live in or are outside the country, would be unable to participate.

Most prestigious championship in the Jiu-Jitsu universe, the World Cup with kimono usually takes place between the end of May and the beginning of June, and has as its “home”, the traditional Long Beach Pyramid in California (USA). The No-Gi Worlds (without a kimono) are usually held in December, also in California.

It is worth remembering that the World Master has been confirmed between December 14 and 20,, in Kissimmee, Florida (USA). The stage will be the same used by the Pan 2020 – which was the first major event since the restart (due to the pandemic), in October.

See the statement below:

“The IBJJF regrets to inform that, unfortunately, there will be no adult World Championship 2020 with kimono and no World Championship without kimono. Due to the extreme difficulties of traveling, including prohibited entry into the United States faced by athletes and organizations, these events will not be held.

We will continue to work to bring the competition calendar back to normal as soon as possible next year (2021) and posting updates on upcoming events. We thank you for your support ”.
