Protocolo rígido, testes para Covid-19, homenagem e Jiu-Jitsu de qualidade: presidente da CBJJE faz balanço do Mundial 2020

Over the last week in Brazil, in the state of São Paulo, the CBJJE World Championship(Brazilian Confederation of Sports Jiu-Jitsu) happened. The event had more then 2,300 registered athletes and a strict health protocol to combat the contagion of the new coronavirus. To maintain the safety of everyone involved in the organization’s most important championship, fighters, teachers, parents of child athletes, staffs, referees and even the press were tested for Covid-19.

Moisés Muradi, president of CBJJE, talked with TATAME and took stock of the 2020 edition of the World Cup – which was carried out despite all the problems caused by the pandemic. The president highlighted the varied cultures of athletes, that competed in this tournament.

“This is the event with the greatest diversity, it’s open to everyone. I heard a group of athletes from São Paulo saying that in a CBJJE event, it gets tough because they accept competitors from the north and northeast who are very difficult. Comments like these make us realise on the importance of the national and international exchange ”, he said.

The World Cup also featured a tribute to Roberto Thomaz (Robertão), who graduated to sixth degree in Jiu-Jitsu. The tough guy was one of those responsible for bringing the tournament to Campinas. Moses recalls the connection between them: “He is highly respected for his seriousness and professionalism daily. He has already reached his 6 degree, but was afraid, due to the fragile state his Master Marcelão is in. His master and I trained together when we were children, under the supervision of the phenomenon that was Saraiva. I told Robertao what was happening, was that I was going to graduate him ”.

At the end of the tournament, Gracie Barra won the overall team title. Cícero Costha took second place, while Guigo JJ closing off the podium.
